Visit to the Cultural Project "The Mountain and I"
Just 3 km from the Horizontes Soroa Hotel in the province of Artemisa, an interesting socio-cultural project known as "The Mountain and I" is being developed in the Carambola Community, a place where visitors can interact with the local inhabitants and learn more about the life and cultural projects of this community.
Within the project "The mountain and I" a space was created baptized as: Patio Cimarrón, in this place interest circles of local history, culinary art, gender workshops, peasant clubs and others are carried out. It has a collection of about 1000 pieces, including tools and means of work, objects for domestic use, among others, which show how the way of life was in the past.
The culinary art is the main attraction of the place, all the food is ecological and healthy and many of the foods we can find them in a homemade orchard located in the same place, foods of cimarrón and peasant origin are elaborated like: the seasoned flour, the fufú of banana or banana, the tasajo, the breads of vianda, bread of sweet potato, bread of flour, bread of yucca or bread patato, the codfish and the most representative the Cuban Ajiaco. It is important to note that the client will have the opportunity to try these types of foods and beverages if desired. The management and care of the environment is a must in the patio, as well as the conservation of the soil and the saving of water, since this project is linked to the Ecological Station of the Sierra del Rosario.
It is an enjoyable place to visit and entertain as well as to acquire knowledge, since the interested visitor can also count on a bibliography related to subjects concerning local history and traditions.
