Visit to the "La Rosita" farm

Soroa, also known as the Rainbow of Cuba, is a privileged place for the conservation of the richness, variety and excellence of its flora and fauna. Among its main attractions are the largest orchid garden in the country, as well as a spectacular 22-meter high waterfall that invites you to take a refreshing bath at any time of the year.

Trails are essential options for nature lovers. Travelling through forests with exuberant vegetation and fauna, listening to the singing of birds in their natural environment and bordering rivers make these tours a unique experience that allows you to be in direct contact with nature.

Visit to the farm La Rosita, tour designed to interact with nature and learn about the vegetation, geological characteristics of the area, as well as the diversity of fauna that lives in this region. You will learn about the old coffee farms in the area and about the emergence and expansion of coffee cultivation in Cuba.

Itinerary

  • Welcome cocktail reception and entertainment by a musical group at the Pool Bar of the facility. Brief explanation of the tour.
  • 1st Stop: Transition zone of the Biosphere. Explanation of the Kyoto Protocol and the Turquino-Manati Plan, as well as the relation in the sustainable development projects, agricultural production and reforestation carried out by the coffee communities of the region.
  • 2nd Stop: "La Pluma" Farm. Explanation of the history of the 19th century coffee plantation in the area, based on its ruins.
  • 3rd Stop: "La Rosita" Farm. Current home of a family descending from the slaves baptized by the former Basque owners of the land of Hacienda San José de Manantiales. The house still preserves the typology and materials from when it was built in the 19th century. In this place lived Mateo Mogol, an old mambí who fought with Maceo in the wars for the independence of Cuba. If you wish you can taste a typical coffee from the Sierra del Rosario or an infusion and listen to anecdotes about the war of independence and the way of life of the slaves.
