Osy Milián (Painting)

Milián is actually the youngest artist to win an award in our country, with only 13 years old. She’s been involved in this field since elementary school and has graduated from the Superior Art Institute (ISA for its acronym in spanish, Instituto Superior de Arte) with a major in Plastic Arts. In the imagery of this artist we find a mix that includes from post-modern pop culture references to Japanese culture. Studio: Calle 25, #855 entre A y B, Apto. 3, Vedado, Plaza de la Revolución.

Karlos Pérez (Painting)

The technique used by this artist along with its purpose make his works unique and peculiar. Graduated from ISA, he looks forward to merge photography and painting, using pictures that remind of past times creating an abstract expressionism that produces melancholy alongside with wonder. Studio: Calle 23, #1461B, entre 22 y 24, Vedado, Plaza de la Revolución.

Leandro Feal (Photography)

With his works, Leandro searches to create a true testimony of the moment. His photos are a reflection of nowadays Cuba, capturing its spirit of change, and its people while it changes. As a graduate from ISA, he pays tribute to the tradition of Cuban photography along with his fresh perspective, making occasions and people last in an instant that speaks beyond images about the moment he clicks. Studio: Habana Vieja…

Pedro Luis Cuellar (Sculpture)

Being one of the youngest sculptors in the island (born in 1994), Pedro Luis gets to tell stories through the shapes he creates. He focuses his attention in the anatomy of his figures, creating a rustic looking yet really eye-catching composition. His works can go from philosophical and existential wondering to the representation of icons from the popular culture.

331 Art Space

A group of artists that offer a clear and excellent example of the new generation of plastic arts in Cuba. With their works we see genuine talent by the hand of novelty.

Adrian Fernandez (Photography): An artist who specialized in sculpture (graduating from ISA) but that preferred to center his attention to photography. Adrian has experimented either with black and white as with full-color studio photography.

Frank Mujica (Drawing): Frank’s drawings immerse the viewer in an environment that combine the pure sight of design lines with some sort of hidden mysticism. Graduated from ISA, he has always followed the tradition of landscape, however, this drawings evoke a different type of feeling, far from the conventional, that might recall some of the oneiric symbolist tendencies.

Ariamna Contino (Visual Arts): Portraits and landscapes are the main subject in this artist pieces, but the monochromatic paper cuts that Ariamna creates go beyond average. The artist herself has said that she is obsessed with the representation of personalities and their contexts, and the apparent simplicity of her monochrome works are just a subtle way to focus the attention on the significant element of the composition.

Alex Hernandez (Visual Arts): Conceptualism is the main thread in Alex’s works. With his art he wants to comment on modern society, how it functions, our roles inside of it and its impact in our identity. Graduated from ISA, this versatile artist has experimented with painting, sculpture and video resulting in a varied aesthetic of a pure contemporary feeling. Studio: Calle 31 entre 34 y 36, #3401.

Orlando Almanza (Painting, Drawing, Lithography)

A highly expressive artist, he pays special attention to how every color and line function together. Sometimes called a neoexpressionist, his works might radiate different types of significance, perhaps autobiographical, perhaps letting the viewer create their own story. This images that might sometimes appear to the eyes as part of a dream are a sample of the evolution of contemporary art guided by the new generations. Studio: Amargura 359 entre Villegas y Aguacate, Habana Vieja.

Octavio Irving (Engraving, Drawing)

As once director of the National Engraving Section of UNEAC (National Union of Cuban Artists and Writers) Octavio knows his way through print art. This artist follows his instinct and let forms guide him to the final result, an artistic speech that inquires about a personal approach of social concernings, such as migration, religion or the exploitation of art as a product.

Frank Martínez (Drawing, Painting)

Frank uses irony and a delightful wit when making his drawings. His method is the use and combination of icons in contexts that are not just a plain scenery, but a very well thought space, with the aim of offering a point of view on modern social controversies. His art is a smart figure of speech of the world through his eyes.

Osmeivy Ortega (Print Art) The works by this artist contain a great emotive strength. He describes his art as representations of his memoirs. Lyrically autobiographical, Osmeivy works with a colossal finesse, inventive and precision.

Niels Reyes (Painting) Niels’ distinctive trademark are the representation of faces, but a deeper meaning lays beneath the mere depiction of these. Using the color as one of his most powerful pictorial tools, he wonders about culture, emotion and his own history. With a major in painting in ISA, Niels is considered of the most representative young artist in Cuba.
