“VIÑALES VALLEY, A UNESCO WORLD HERITAGE OF HUMANITY SITE” Tour
The Viñales Valley is located in the province of Pinar del Río, the most western area of Cuba, in the Sierra de los Órganos, exactly in the mountainous group of the Guaniguanico Mountain Range. This valley and a large part of the surrounding mountain range was approved in 1999 as a National Park and, in December of the same year, was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, in the category of Cultural Landscape. It also has the status of National Monument, which it received on March 27, 1979.
The Viñales Valley is one of the best known and most attractive areas in Cuba. It presents an exceptional scenario, which, among others, is characterized by the fusion of its spectacular natural beauty, environmental conservation, the harmonious action of man in the cultivation of small fruits, fodder and essentially the cultivation of tobacco, whose traditional methods of cultivation and production, achieve universal recognition of the cigar as one of the best quality in the world.
Itinerary
- Pick up from hotels by air-conditioned bus according to a staggered schedule established for the excursion.
- Brief stop at Las Barrigonas ranch, surrounded by typical country houses and tobacco plantations.
- Visit to a factory of manufactured tobacco (or to the Casa del Veguero on the days the factory does not provide services).
- A walk through the Valle de Viñales National Park, declared a UNESCO Protected Cultural Landscape and National Natural Monument, which stands out for the beauty of its mogotes, rounded-top mountains and numerous caves of great interest.
- Visit to the Prehistoric Mural, a 120-meter long work of art painted on the wall of one of its mogotes.
- Visit to the Mirador Los Jazmines, where you can enjoy one of the best panoramic views of the Viñales Valley and a refreshing cocktail.
- Visit to Cueva del Indio (Indian's Cave) and boat ride on its underground river.
- Creole lunch in a local restaurant, with country music.
- Return to the hotels in Havana.
Sites of interest: Los Jazmines viewpoint, Cueva del Indio, Prehistoric Mural, Tobacco factory or veguero house.
TIPS: • Recommended: light clothing, sunglasses, hats or caps, tennis, sandals or comfortable shoes and photographic camera. • For the tour we recommend a water bottle.
• The collected may be delayed up to 15 minutes depending on the number of hotels and punctuality of customers. Customer should be informed on sales desk to avoid disagreements. • This tour has guaranteed departures with no minimum number of passengers on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sunday. The rest of the week operates with a minimum of 12 passengers.

• Cancellations more than 72 hours before the tour: No penalty applies. • Cancellations between 72 hours and 48 hours before the tour: a penalty of 50% of the total value of the excursion applies. • Cancellations less than 48 hours before the tour: a penalty of 100% of the total value of the excursion applies. • NO-SHOW: a penalty of 100% of the total value of the excursion applies.
