In this excursion you will enjoy an unforgettable adventure in the Pico Real del Turquino, the highest peak in Cuba with 1972 meters above sea level, located in the mountainous massif of the Sierra Maestra. It is the ideal place to observe endemic species, both plants and animals, surrounded by lush vegetation and very pleasant temperatures that will make your ascent a full and unforgettable enjoyment.

Details of your trip

1 Day:

• Pick up by Jeep from the hotels according to the established schedule and departure to the nature areas of Santiago de Cuba,
• Departure from the city of Santiago de Cuba to the province of Granma, crossing the towns of Contramaestre, Santa Rita and Bartolomé Maso until arriving at the Information Center in Santo Domingo,
• Brief explanation about the route,
• Departure to Alto del Naranjo,
• Beginning of the trekking to the Comandancia La Plata, Visit to the Casa Museo Los Medinas and brief rest time,
• Arrival at the Comandancia de la Plata, tour of all its facilities and facilities of the rebel camp, today converted into a museum,
• Return to Alto del Naranjo and continue to La Platica where we have a picnic lunch, visit the rural community and then camp,
• Afternoon and evening free to rest or simply tour the community and learn about the customs of its inhabitants.

2nd Day:

• Around 06.00 hrs: Breakfast and departure to Pico del Joaquin at 1360 meters above sea level,
• Short time for a rest to replenish the strength lost in the challenge of the ascent.
• Rest at Aguada del Joaquín camp, time to take beautiful pictures of the Sierra Maestra and Pico Turquino,

Day 3:

• Around 08.30 hrs: Breakfast.
• We continue along the trail ascending and descending through the mountains up to the Pico Real del Turquino which is crowned on its summit by the sphinx of our National Hero José Martí at a height of 1974 meters above sea level,
• After a short rest we continue our descent to the town of Las Cuevas in the south of the Sierra Maestra facing the Caribbean Sea,
• After a short rest we continue the descent passing first by the beautiful waterfalls of the Palma Mocha River, finally arriving to the village of Las Cuevas in the south of the Sierra Maestra facing the Caribbean Sea, where a refreshing swim in the crystal clear waters of the Palma Mocha River and a delicious Creole lunch awaits you.
• Departure by jeep on the return trip to the city of Santiago de Cuba.
