WHAT WILL WE DO?
- We’ll start our journey with a warm welcome at “Centro de las Raíces”, the first cultural center in Cuba fully dedicated to enhance afro aesthetics and identity in the island and Beyond Roots headquarters. This is where your adventure begins, in Old Havana over a cup of coffee.
- We’ll travel to Guanabacoa, the cradle of Afro-Cuban culture and experience life on it’s streets. Here, you’ll meet a “Babalawo” - the highest priest of Santeria. He will perform a cleansing ritual and share the profound wisdom of Afro-Cuban religions and how we have kept it alive from generations.
- Sip on Aguardiente, a traditional beverage used in Afro-Cuban rituals, enhancing your cultural immersion.
- Afterwards, we return to the Beyond Roots store, the first and only Afro- Cuban style shop in Cuba. Explore a space dedicated to celebrating Afro-Cuban identity, offering unique products crafted by local talents. Here, you can support and uplift the community.
Note:
- This experience is a 2 hours version of the previous one. The dynamic will be performed in the backyard and the emphasis will be in the music and dances. Including traditional representations of the Orisha dances by members of the community. This version is only available without transportation.
- Once we finish the experience, if you wish you can stay for a reading with the Babalawo as a perfect opportunity to take a closer look at what the future has in store for you. It has an additional cost.

TIPS: - Recommended: light clothing, sunglasses, hats or caps, tennis, sandals or comfortable shoes, sunscreen, camera and water bottle.
- This tour operates with a minimum of 2 passengers. Holiplus will reconfirm 48 hours before the departure of your tour. If the provider decides to cancel, for reasons of force majeure or adverse weather conditions, Holiplus will offer an alternative tour or fully refund cost of your trip.
- The pick-ups can have a delay of up to 15 minutes, depending on the number of hotels and the punctuality of the customers.
Cancellation Policy
- In case of cancellation up to 72 hours before the departure time of the excursion, a penalty of 10% of the excursion fare will be charged.
- Regarding cancellations made between 72 and 24 hours before the departure time of the excursion, a penalty of 50% of the excursion fare will be applied.
- Cancellations reported within 24 hours before the departure time and No-Show (no presentation at departure time), a penalty of 100% of the excursion fare will be applied.
- Booking fees and credit card surcharges cannot be refunded in case of cancellation.
