Program Details
AHU is a ceremonial platform on Easter Island, where ancestors were worshipped. Built of embedded stones, they form the base where the moai would later be located. Normally they are located parallel to the coast, or in relation to astronomical orientations, looking at the moai towards the interior of the island. Ahu Akivi, one of the few existing platforms on the island where the Moai seem to face the sea. Legend has it that these structures represent the seven explorers sent by King Hotu Matu'a before his colonizing journey.
Details of your trip:
- Departure to Ahu Akivi.
- We arrive at Puna Pau, a place that is inside the crater of an extinct volcano Mauga Vai-o-Hao and the third part of the crater was used for the production of the Pukao of up to 11 tons of weight.
- We continue on to Ahu Uri Aurenga, unique in that the moai has only two pairs of hands.
- Return to our hotel in Easter Island.
