“El Yunque” Hiking Tour
El Yunque de Baracoa.It has a maximum height of 575 m and is located approximately 10 km from the city of Baracoa, province of Guantanamo. It is the most important elevation in Baracoa and was declared a National Monument.
Our tour begins in the city of Baracoa, until the Community of Mabujabo located 6 km from the center of the city, During the journey you will see the coconut oil and chocolate factory. We will border the Duaba River to arrive at the base of El Yunque Campsite where you will be able to appreciate a spectacular frontal view of this majestic mountain.
In the reception center of the office of the National Company of Flora and Fauna we begin the ascent to the top of the mountain, the temperature of the place is around 30 degrees, the complexity of the land is of medium - high and the relative humidity is superior to 74 percent, the vegetation of the place is distributed according to the types of existing formations, you will be able to appreciate plantations of different fruit trees like the mango, the pomarrosa and almond trees and woods like the ocuje and the majagua, as well as plantations of Cocoa and Coffee. The fauna is very varied, with an abundance of Tocororo, Carta Cuba, Cao and Rabiche Pigeons, among others.
At the top of the mountain you will contemplate a magnificent view of the City of Baracoa, the Bay, the mouth of the Toa and Duaba rivers, and the Alejandro de Humboldt National Park. At the summit we will rest for 20 to 25 minutes, the descent from the mountain takes approximately 2 hours. During the tour, you will be able to taste, in the house of a farmer, a plentiful picnic of fruits of the seasons. The ascent and return of this excursion includes the obligatory walk along the Duaba River, that is, without the use of bridges.

Cancellation Policy • In case of cancellation up to 72 hours before the departure time of the excursion, a penalty of 10% of the excursion fare will be charged. • Regarding cancellations made between 72 and 24 hours before the departure time of the excursion, a penalty of 50% of the excursion fare will be applied. • Cancellations reported within 24 hours before the departure time and No-Show (no presentation at departure time), a penalty of 100% of the excursion fare will be applied. • Booking fees and credit card surcharges cannot be refunded in case of cancellation.
