“TATIO GEYSERS &PURITAMA HOT SPRINGS” TOUR
The Tatio geothermal field covers an area of 10 km2, composed of thermal springs and sinter terraces, is located at an altitude of 4,290 meters above sea level, which makes it one of the highest geothermal fields in the world and in terms of extension is the largest in South America and the third largest in the world.
The Puritama Hot Springs are located in the Quebrada de Puritama, 33 km to the north and at an altitude of 3,500 meters above sea level; it has its origin in the Andes Mountains. Thanks to the volcanic activity, the waters are heated and flow underground, until they sprout on the surface, they have medicinal properties, due to their minerals and temperatures between 30C and 33C. These hot springs flow among the rocks, forming pools that have been conditioned to be enjoyed by visitors. The place has bathrooms and dressing rooms to the pools connected by wooden walkways.
