Walking Tour "Jobo Rosado"

Jobo Rosado is located between the Meneses and Cueto mountain ranges, in the northeastern highlands of Villa Clara, in the municipality of Yaguajay, in the north of Sancti Spíritus province, in the Central Region of Cuba. It has a floristic composition of 305 species, belonging to 229 genera and 77 botanical families. Among the families with more species are Orchidaceae, with 18; Rubiaceae and Fabaceae, with 14 each; Euphorbiaceae, 10, and Sapindaceae with 10. In relation to the fauna, 389 species belonging to 324 genera and 147 families were recorded. The species are distributed in 11 fundamental taxa. Invertebrates are represented by 262 species and vertebrates by 127. The most numerous groups are insects with 203 species and birds with 87, followed by mollusks with 35 and reptiles with 21. The area has a great variety of bird species, beautiful mountainous elevations and a relaxing natural environment. In this site 2 camps were established by the Rebel troops; the first one, in Jobo Rosado, where the Northern Front of Las Villas was created, and the camp of Commander Camilo Cienfuegos when arriving to Yaguajay in the area of Montalvo.

You can make the most extensive route through the forest surroundings until you reach the first camp that Commander Camilo Cienfuegos had when he arrived at Las Villas, about 4500 m away from Chalet Los Alamos.
