LOCAL MARKETS & FOOD HISTORY FOOD TOUR

Today's experience will take us to visit some of our authentic local markets in the city of Lima. We will immerse ourselves in the Peruvian culture by tasting local fruits, tapas, drinks, juices and best of all, by interacting with the local people.

Itinerary

Discover with us the magic of Peruvian gastronomy through its history and traditions. Enjoy an afternoon full of flavors visiting the most important places of our culinary art. Perfect for those who love new experiences and new flavors!

Local market in SURQUILLO: We will start our adventure in this colorful and friendly local market in the district of Surquillo. Get ready to try different types of exotic fruits, coming from different parts of the country like the coast, the rainforest and the Andes. Of course, we will not leave this local market without trying the most representative dish of Lima called "ceviche". But this time, you will have a unique version of ceviche called "ceviche con cushuro" (cushuro is a seaweed from the high altitude lakes and rivers in the Andes that was considered a delicacy by our ancestors). Finally, we will try a delicious "causaellena" which is made with flattened yellow potatoes and filled with vegetables and shredded chicken.

Local market in Surco: After tasting different food samples in the Surquillo market we now arrive at the Santigo de Surco market, it was well known by locals and visitors since the days of the colony until now. Its reputation is well known among people who have a great interest in jungle food and fresh exotic fruit juices, so this will be a good opportunity to try some delicious "Juanes de Pollo" or a "Chaufa de Cecina", typical jungle dishes prepared with authentic and organic ingredients from the Amazon. We will have one of the most amazing experiences, full of surprises, tasting the flavors of Peru throughout time and listening to the history behind the different dishes that we will taste throughout the tour.

Barranco: finally, we arrive to this cheerful and colorful bohemian neighborhood where we will visit one of the most popular restaurants and taste the most typical lime dessert "Picarones" made of sweet potato flour, aniseed seeds, pumpkin, etc. don't forget to bring a camera as the attractions are unique and wonderful
