“ATACAMA SALT FLAT & ALTIPLANIC LAGOONS ON MOTORCYCLE” TOUR
The Salar de Atacama is the largest salt deposit in Chile whose white and rough surface hides a large salt lake from view. Inside the Salar, in the area known as Soncor and the Chaxa Lagoon, an ideal place for bird watching where we can find three species of native pink flamingos.
Altiplanic lagoons are one of the 7 sectors that make up the Los Flamencos National Reserve. They are located 18 kilometers south of Socaire. The landscape is characterized by volcanoes and mountainous relief, highlighting the Miscanti and Miñiques hills.
Details of your trip
- Departure from San Pedro de Atacama, we take a transfer that will take us to the base located 6 km to the south where we will find our motorcycles to begin the journey through the roads of the pre-Andes mountains.
- We continue to go into the Altiplano, reaching 4,300 meters of altitude, where we will visit the Miscanti and Miñique lagoons.
- Lunch in the town of Socaire.
- Last stop is the town of Toconao, where we will visit the main square and the church of San Lucas, both declared National Monuments since 1951.
- Once the tour is over, we return the motorcycles and take the transfer back to our hotel in San Pedro de Atacama.
