"Copacabana" Tour

Copacabana is a picturesque village located on the shores of Lake Titicaca on the Bolivian side, only 4 hours away from La Paz. A place of enormous beauty, that conserves its traditions and the simplicity of its people, but open to thousands of travelers from all over the world that visit and enjoy it every year. Of its main attractions, the most famous, is the Sun Island, the mythical birthplace of the most revered of the Inca gods, Inti, the sun. The legend also says that the first Incas emerged from a sacred rock on this very island. We will visit its southern side known as Yumani and which is the largest and most developed settlement on the island where we will find The Steps of the Inca and The Fountain of the Inca, the latter known as The Fountain of Youth.

Itinerary

  • Pick up of the clients at their hotel and departure to Copacabana.
  • Arrival and lunch.
  • Departure to the southern area of the sacred Island of the Sun known as Yumani. Venerated as the most important site within Inca mythology, the Island of the Sun is worth a visit for anyone interested in spectacular scenery and spiritual surroundings. According to Inca tradition, the Sun Island is the birthplace of their revered Sun God and the first two Incas in the world.
  • Visit the Pilkokaina Palace, a surprisingly well-preserved two-story temple that was built on the side of a cliff more than twenty meters above Lake Titicaca.
  • Walk to the Steps of the Inca (or Pasos del Inca) and Fountain of Youth (or Fuente del Inca). Starting at the southern port of the Sun Island there is a steep staircase of over 200 steps that leads to the town of Yumani. Built by the Incas, the staircase also leads to a sacred fountain that is said to be a fountain of youth. A natural water fountain containing three separate spouts that the Incas referred to as "Ama sua, Ama Kella and Ama Llulla", translated into English would be "Don't be lazy, don't be a liar, don't be a thief". Commonly known as the "Fountain of Youth", it is believed that anyone who drinks from the fountain water will stay young forever.
  • At the end, I return to Copacabana and leave for La Paz.
