“To the Valley of the Mills, A Trip Through Time” Tour
We invite you to get to know one of the most impressive cities in central-southern Cuba. The Colonial City of Trinidad, full of historical, cultural and patrimonial values, will be able to discover times, customs and traditions of the old Villa. It was one of the first Villas founded and declared by the UNESCO Cultural Patrimony of the Humanity.
The Valley of the Sugar Mills was named a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1998 due to its links to the slave trade that was generated by the sugar plantations in the area during that period. This place is a living museum of the ancient sugar trade of the 18th and 19th centuries and gave birth to the great palaces that we enjoy today as we walk through its streets giving rise to the emergence of the Trinitarian Aristocracy.
Description:
- The excursion begins with an explanation by the guide of the itinerary to be followed.
- Visit to the Red Pottery House, owned by the Santander Family, where the customer will enjoy a large collection of handcrafted items made by the family in red pottery, you can also buy souvenirs.
- Visit to the Mirador del Valle located at the height of a mountain that will allow you to enjoy the natural beauty of the San Luis Valley. For the adventure lovers you can take aerial pictures from a Canopy (not included).
- Visit to Manaca Izaga, there are the ruins of this old mill, its original boilers and bells. It has the Manaca Tower, the main attraction with its 43.5 meters high and architectural elegance of its design, a national monument, is the most beautiful of its kind in the country
- Visit to the Hacienda Guáimaro sugar mill that achieved more sugar production in its time. There are relics from archaeological excavations, as well as a large exhibition of objects used by the hacienda owners of great historical and cultural value.
- We will visit the San Isidro de Los Destiladeros sugar mill, the best preserved in these days. There you will find the Hacienda House in excellent condition and the three level tower with a neoclassical design of Renaissance Europe used as a lookout point and bell tower.
- Return to the city, to the park, to the lawns or to the client's accommodation.
- End of the excursion.
Pick up place of the client: At the address of the hostel where you are staying or at the reference place (municipal library, located in Martí street, in front of the bank and place for cash withdrawal at a very popular ATM). Departure by taxi 8:45 a.m. Visit to the red ceramic factory of the Santander family. Visit to the viewpoint of Valle de los Ingenios, visit to Manaca Iznaga, visit to San Isidro de las Destilerías. Visit to Guáimaro. All were very important sugar mills and haciendas.

Cancellation Policy
• In case of cancellation up to 72 hours before the departure time of the excursion, a penalty of 10% of the excursion fare will be charged. • Regarding cancellations made between 72 and 24 hours before the departure time of the excursion, a penalty of 50% of the excursion fare will be applied. • Cancellations reported within 24 hours before the departure time and No-Show (no presentation at departure time), a penalty of 100% of the excursion fare will be applied. • Booking fees and credit card surcharges cannot be refunded in case of cancellation.
