Program Details

“HEMINGWAY ROUTE” Tour

The great American author fell in love with Cuba on his first visit in 1932, attracted firstly by the marlin fishing. It was not until 1939, however, that Hemingway decided to move to the island, initially setting down in the Ambos Mundos Hotel in Old Havana. Having decided to stay on, he found a quite village outside the town in which to write, Finca Vigía, where he lived up to 1960 when he returned to US, a year before his suicide.

Itinerary

  • Pick up at the hotel.
  • Guided tour of the Hemingway Museum, the writer's former residence, located in the town of San Francisco de Paula. Cameras and video cameras are allowed. Tour of the facility with a specialized guide, where you can see his personal belongings, hunting trophies and the room where he wrote, as well as his memories of fishing and life in Cuba.
  • Continuation of the trip to the town of Cojímar, a fishing village where Hemingway celebrated his Pulitzer Prize in 1953, with his friends and Gregorio, his boat captain, which served as inspiration for his novel "The Old Man and the Sea".
  • Transit visit to the Bodeguita del Medio and Floridita with cocktail included.
  • Lunch at one of the facilities linked to his life and work.
  • Return to the hotel.
