Climbing is becoming more and more popular worldwide, it is an adventure sport practice that, in its classic modality, consists of climbing or traversing high rock walls, steep slopes or other natural reliefs characterized by their great verticality, where for this, means of assurance and security are used, recoverable in almost its totality and the possibility in its progression of using artificial means. Sport climbing seeks to achieve in the athlete, the maximum degree of difficulty of his movements, by the climber, who must also achieve an intense previous physical preparation. On the natural terrain of the rocks and slopes, some routes are "opened" that mark the path of ascent. The sport of climbing, very popular in many countries of the world for several years, is an activity that starts with climbing walls using one's own physical strength. It is derived from mountaineering and as a sport it was included for the first time in the last Tokyo 2020 Olympics in Japan, which has undoubtedly contributed to a greater promotion at international level. In climbing, the difficulty of a route is marked by the combination of several factors: the inclination of the wall, the size and shape of the holds, the distance between them, the resting points and the total number of movements necessary to achieve the objective.
The small and picturesque town of Cojímar is a fishing village located only 7 kilometers east of Havana, Cuba. Cojímar is very famous and visited by people from all over the world, as it was a very special place where the famous American writer, Ernest Hemingway, set his most famous book, The Old Man and the Sea, with which he was honored to win the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1954. The El Pilar, his fishing boat, was moored in Cojímar during the 1940s and 1950s. Cojímar was founded in the 17th century at the mouth of the river of the same name. Notes: In climbing the degrees of difficulty are denominated with numbers and letters 5a,5b,6c,7a.... up to level 9c (according to the French scale). The routes you will climb have a level from 5a to 5c. To climb a level 5a it is not necessary to be in top physical shape, you just have to trust yourself and not be afraid of falling because you will always be insured with equipment from the best climbing brands in the world (all certified by the UIAA - International Union of Mountaineering Associations). When you can not continue climbing you can let go without any fear, you will remain hanging in the same place so you will not suffer any blow because you will be climbing in the mode of "top rope ". This modality is ideal among the typologies and techniques of climbing, if you are a beginner in this world, it is the safest because the rope is tied to a belay that is on the ground, passes through a meeting point and then goes to the climber.
Mandatory rules:
- Minors must be accompanied by a parent.
- Alcoholic beverages are not allowed in the area.
- The use of all protective equipment during the climb is mandatory.
Complementary services:
- Professional photography service is optional for an additional charge.
TIPS: - You do NOT have to worry about wearing the proper footwear. The safety equipment is provided by the organizers, and includes: Climbing shoes (allows us, literally, to adhere to the rock. This is fundamental because, in spite of what beginners usually think, in this discipline it is more important to work with the legs than with the hands. These shoes fit the foot well and are designed to increase the performance of rock climbing) / Magnesium bag (tied to the waist and hangs from the back; inside it contains a substance that removes moisture from the hands and provides a better grip) / Harness and helmet (safety elements, the first unites the climber with the rope) / Carabiner and grigri, two essential devices as belayers. - NO gloves are used, so at least the first few times be prepared for hand chafing (they say that experienced climbers get calluses and are no longer hurt by the rock). - As part of the routine, before starting, there are some physical exercises to warm up and stretch the muscles guided by the organizers.

Likewise, these extreme risk sports entail damages that may be suffered by those who directly or indirectly participate in them. It is essential that customers who want to enjoy this sport, must have a good insurance policy that expressly covers the damages that may occur in the practice of these risky sports and adventure events. HOLIPLUS as a travel agency, does not assume any direct or indirect responsibility for risks, damages and injuries that may arise from participation in the events (sporting and recreational) that involve the practice of this climbing excursion.
