Encanto El Marqués Hotel ★ ★ ★ ★ ★

In February 2014, Camagüey celebrated its 500th anniversary; during this celebration several hotels in the city were restored in historic buildings. One of them was the Encanto El Marques hotel, built in 1920, it stands out for its eclectic architectural splendour. It is located in a quiet street, but very close to the city's restaurants, theatres, cinemas and galleries. It is also close to the historical attractions of the city centre, declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 2008. Camagüey is the cradle of renowned intellectuals such as Nicolás Guillén and Gertrudis Gómez de Avellaneda. Both houses can be visited, and are only 150 and 350 meters away respectively. El Marqués has classic and elegant rooms, high ceilings and furniture from the beginning of the 20th century. This decoration creates an atmosphere of history and intimacy combined with modernity.
